Using two instruments, the EII, and LPI, the authors (Anand & UdayaSuriyan, 2010) surveyed 300 executives selected randomly. The hypothesis examined emotional intelligence and leadership practices. With globalization, employees are expected to accept constant organizational changes. Leaders are expected to be agile and approachable at all times. Effective leaders are looked upon to keep morale and performance high. The authors used the rationale that ?hence the relationship between emotional intelligence and their leadership practices equate to a complex situation, an introspective look at a correlation in warranted.? The main hypothesis suggests emotional intelligence and its eight components will positively impact the members of a team lead by an executive who exercises strong emotional intelligence. The most important finding was that emotional intelligence has a significant relationship with leadership practices among executives. The research found that emotional intelligence was high for executives older than 45 years of age. The authors suggested that it is sound management practice to encourage both qualities of emotional intelligence and leadership insights among executives if the organization is to adapt successfully to change.
